One Frame at a Time documents what a West Philadelphia classroom becomes in after-school hours. Sayre High School students and LensBright Initiative mentors turn still images into motion, and discover multiple ways of knowing through artmaking.
Animating a single image frame by frame is a lesson in attention. Deciding what your character values is a form of ethics. Passing a sketchbook around a circle is a form of trust. Showing unfinished work is a practice in vulnerability.
And then a student would do something completely unhinged and remind me that this is also just a place to be with friends and hang out with some older goofy art kids in their twenties.
